Got a good deal on a new car? Lawmakers are moving to give you a break on the tax you pay when you first get the vehicle and every year you own it.

Arizona lawmakers are moving to give you a break on the tax you pay, not just when you first get the vehicle but every year you own it.

That organization found that in 2019, the average sales price for all vehicles sold nationwide was $30,858, which was about 5.7% below the manufacturer's suggested retail price."For decades, taxpayers have been getting screwed,'' she told Capitol Media Services."They have been paying tax on a fictitious, made-up, higher than what they paid for the car.

That Edmunds report found that a whopping 82.2% of all new vehicle purchases nationwide in January were above MSRP, compared with just 2.8% a year earlier and 0.3% at the same time in 2020. "This makes it either/or, which protects in a situation like right now where there's more instances of people paying more, above MSRP,'' she said. But Ugenti-Rita said she believes that's just a temporary situation.
