It was only a sampling of what Arizona State’s revamped offense could do last week, but the upcoming road game at Oklahoma State will be the biggest test for the Sun Devils.
The first showing resulted in success for the group with Jones passing for 152 yards in the 40-3 win over Northern Arizona. The usual strong run game didn’t seem to take a hit without Rachaad White as Wyoming transfer Xazavian “X” Valladay rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns. ASU finished with 267 rushing yards, which was good for the top 20 among NCAA programs last week.
In what was shown from Jones, it was a good performance for Thomas to build off of heading into the next game. “I know I have to be on time. Those guys are playmakers, but we’ve got playmakers on our side too. We’ve got a great offensive line that works great together and I feel safe and protected behind those guys. I know against a tougher opponent, I have to be on time and be more locked into all the little details I need to be in on,” Jones said.
