"The dispatchers could hear a woman's voice that was yelling, and who appeared to be calling to some children," Police Chief Dan Mulholland told reporters. "You can hear children's voices that were also evident coming through the 911 call." "Once the officers realized the man was armed with a handgun, they backed off and a perimeter was set up and they attempted to negotiate with the man," Chief Mulholland said.
The San Mateo County DA's Office says Gutierrez and the woman had been in a relationship for several years. Out of the three children, only the 1-year-old belonged to Gutierrez, and the woman is currently pregnant with his child. The DA's office is leading the case due to the suspect's firearm being "real and loaded."Cellphone video shared with ABC7 News, captures the sound of gunshots ringing out, and people running from their cars.
