Our supporter jury give their view on the Blues as we edge towards the final weekend of the season
A tumultuous season is finally coming to a close and the Toffees find themselves caught up in someone else's drama rather than own for once.
Pretty much every Everton supporter will be glad to see the back of what has been yet another mentally draining campaign, but one which the team have done extremely well to come out of practically unscathed. Attention will turn away from on-field matters to the situation off the pitch, as the Toffees still await the outcome of the takeover saga between Farhad Moshiri and 777 Partners.
On the topic of narratives, it would be fitting for Everton to have a say in the Premier League title race. Everyone expects West Ham United to roll over at the Etihad and the Toffees to do the same at the Emirates. However, I think many are forgetting how this game works and why we love it; things never come easy in football.
Roll on next season, whether that be under a new owner, or with new players the fans will give Goodison Park the send-off it deserves. What a relief it was last Saturday to be basking in the sunshine at Goodison Park and sit back, relax, and simply enjoy the football, sporting a pair of shades and shorts.
For the first time in five years, the players were able to undertake a ‘lap of appreciation’ and thank supporters for their unstinting support over a challenging season. It was a welcome opportunity for fans to show their affection for the team and for certain members of the squad, such as Andre Gomes, to say their goodbyes. Such a pity that Dele had made alternative arrangements for that day.
