Following his missed penalty in Arsenal's FA Cup exit, Kai Havertz faced online abuse, prompting an investigation by Arsenal and Hertfordshire Constabulary. A 17-year-old was arrested for malicious communications.

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz missed the decisive penalty in his team's FA Cup exit against Manchester United on January 15th. Following the match, Havertz's pregnant wife, Sophia Havertz, shared screenshots of abusive messages she received on Instagram. Arsenal , taking swift action, engaged the data technology company Signify to identify the perpetrators.

Hertfordshire Constabulary subsequently launched an investigation and confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of a 17-year-old boy from St Albans on suspicion of malicious communications. The suspect has been released on bail pending further inquiries. Last week, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta strongly warned about the severe consequences that would follow if such online abuse remained unchecked. Havertz, who scored in a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday, extending his season tally to 13 goals, is anticipated to start for Arsenal in their penultimate Champions League group game against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday
