The Gunners are looking to offload Tierney but so far there have been no takers for a permanent transfer away from the Emirates.
A sensational return to Celtic for Kieran Tierney remains a tall order despite Arsenal shifting their stance on the unwanted defender.
Scotland star Tierney is out of the picture under Mikel Arteta and is one of seven stars the Gunners boss is looking to move on before the end of the window. Long-time Newcastle links came to nothing after Eddie Howe opted to go and get Lewis Hall from Chelsea rather than splash out on a ready made left-back in Tierney.
Brendan Rodgers has refused to rule out an attempt to bring Tierney back to his boyhood club. But Arsenal's asking price seemed to be proving prohibitive, as was their desire for a permanent transfer rather than a loan. But now Football London report that Emirates sporting director Edu is willing to sanction a loan switch, which could offer Hoops fans some hope of one of their favourites returning for a second spell in the East End.
However, an obligation to buy still presents Celtic with the same problem, Arsenal are understood to have lowered their asking price from £35million to the £25m they paid the Scottish champions to land Tierney in 2019. But that fee would be beyond the Parkhead club, whose best hope remains persuading the North London outfit that a straight loan to get Tierney playing and in the shop window for a permanent move down the line is in everyone's interests.
Left back remains an area requiring attention for Rodgers. Greg Taylor is first choice, but Alexandro Bernabei has struggled to dislodge Tierney's international teammate from the starting XI. The Argentine didn't help his cause by sleeping in for a team meeting earlier this month.
