Clayton Utz says artists like Ken Done can lead to new conversations with clients.

Bruce Cooper, the chief executive partner of law firm Clayton Utz, thinks that after a few tough years Australians are less inclined to “stop and smell the roses” – and enjoy the work of artists like Ken Done andDone and Ferraris are the latest participants in the Clayton Utz Art Partnership, which every six months offers two artists – one established, the other emerging – the chance to show and sell their work at the firm’s offices in Sydney and Melbourne.

The program started in 2017 with international artist Wendy Sharpe and Clara Adolphs and has featured well-known painters such as Euan McLeod, Jasper Knight, Jason Benjamin andDone, now 82, is arguably Australia’s most famous living artist, having made his name for his colourful and playful depictions of Australian landmarks and culture. Ferraris is a minimalist painter who prefers buildings and swimming pools.

Ferraris said that “the opportunity to exhibit alongside an artist as iconic as Ken Done, is remarkable”.Mr Cooper told the audience “there’s a bit of altruism involved”.
