About 100 Kate Bush devotees have performed their best Wuthering Heights on the Gold Coast, but this celebration of femininity has also helped another cause.

"I asked Dad who am I named after, and he's like, 'Uh, Kate Bush because you're a bit of a weirdo like her'," she said."That's something all women, anyone who looks up to her, should take in and be inspired about.

"I've listened to some of her music before, it was really good and fun at the same time," Caitlyn said."I ran into my mum while doing the spinning. I did it better than my mum." Founder of the Sanctuary Simone Patterson said the event raised $700, which "is great for us because we're not [government] funded".

At the end of the day, Katie Canavan said, listening to and celebrating Kate Bush could also just provide a welcome distraction from the world.
