An armed gang has attempted to storm a Melbourne home during a Facebook Marketplace ambush, with the victim so shaken he has decided to leave the state. Julian Rivers-Smith was immediately on edge when the would-be buyer arrived at his Ascot Vale home wearing a face mask and attempted to use a fake bank site to prove he had the funds to buy a laptop when they met in late March.
Armed gang attempts to storm home in new Facebook Marketplace ambush. Rivers-Smith claimed the buyer was armed with a knife and began to make threats, saying: “I‘m telling you right now, bro, I have your address.” An accomplice used a metal bar to smash Rivers-Smith’s car windows, he said, and the gang fled in a Ford Falcon, but not before threatening to return. “ weighed heavy on my mind since the entire incident because obviously, they haven’t been apprehended,” the victim said.
