The change will ensure that these once non-recyclable items can now be properly processed and transformed into new materials

plans to introduce new tops for its own label fresh milk range, and these tops will be crafted from 30 percent recycled plastic. According to Asda, implementing this change will allow them to recycle approximately 207 million plastic milk tops annually, and to make new milk bottles each year.

The supermarket giant has collaborated with Arla, the largest dairy cooperative in the UK, to bring about this change, and it will be implemented across Asda stores starting this month. Additionally, this change will also extend to Yeo Valley fresh milk. By making this shift, approximately 268 tonnes of High-Density Polyethylene plastic will be utilised. However, customers need not worry about mistakenly picking up the wrong type of milk, as the distinct varieties will still be identifiable through the coloured labelling that will continue to be present on all milk bottles.Fiona Dobson, lead packaging strategy and innovation manager at Asda, said: “At Asda, we are committed to finding ways to reduce our environmental impact.
