A member of the media covering the third Ashes Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground has tested positive for COVID-19. 7NEWS
The person works for the Seven Network, was asymptomatic at time of testing and has been in self isolation since returning their result on Sunday night.In a statement, Seven said they are “working closely with the MCG operational team and Cricket Australia” to manage the situation.
“There have been a number of changes to today’s production schedule, which will be led by Alistair Nicholson, Andy Maher and Jason Richardson with expert comments from Lisa Sthalekar, Brad Hodge, Callum Ferguson, Michael Atherton and Dirk Nannes.Australia and England are playing the the Third Test match in the Ashes series at the MCGThe new case is understood to be isolated at the Media Centre and does not impact any players.
The media member was asymptomatic at time of testing and has been in self isolation since the moment the positive result was returned.Meanwhile, 57,100 fans attended day one of the Boxing Day Test on Sunday - a number that would normally be a disaster.
