The television feed of the Gabba Ashes Test has been affected by a power issue, resulting in global embarrassment for Cricket Australia.
The first Ashes Test has been blighted by another embarrassing technology issue after television broadcasters' live feed was interrupted by a power failure. The power failure knocked out the feed from most of the television cameras at the groundBroadcasters were forced to call the game using vision from just four cameras, two at either end of the Gabba
Day four's action at the Gabba stopped for approximately 15 minutes on Saturday morning, during which time Fox Sports, the Seven Network and TV stations around the world had no cricket to show. The situation improved slightly, with one camera in use for a short period, before normal service resumed. According to Cricket Australia, the catalyst was a power issue affecting the broadcast compound at the ground.
Play continued throughout the disruption, albeit under conditions of a bygone era, in which there was no third umpire.
