ASIO boss Mike Burgess has condemned a “disgraceful” tweet by Iran ’s Ambassador to Australia one day after lifting the country’s terror threat level to “probable”.
"The comments were disgraceful and, given the current security climate, deeply unhelpful,” Mr Burgess told Sky News Australia host Sharri Markson on Tuesday. “Individuals are embracing anti-authority ideologies, conspiracy theories and diverse grievances. Some are combining multiple beliefs to create new hybrid ideologies.”Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has also condemned the tweet and confirmed Mr Sadeghi had been “called in” over the statement.
