SEATTLE — A four-run lead was gone, the crowd was abuzz and yet the Astros found another way to beat the Mariners in a tight game.
The Astros swept the teams’ American League Division Series last fall, but only outscored the Mariners by four runs. It was Tucker’s third hit of the night, one more than he had in the just completed six-game homestand.For only the second time this season, Bryan Abreu coughed up a lead. However, Abreu couldn’t finish off the inning, with Eugenio Suárez bouncing a single through the right side to bring in the tying run.Yordan Alvarez single-handedly destroyed the Mariners in the first two games of last season’s ALDS with a walkoff homer in Game 1 and the winning round-tripper the following game.
