Astros outfielder Chas McCormick working back into form after back injury
The Astros started both Chas McCormick and Jake Meyers in the outfield for Sunday’s series finale against the A’s, with McCormick starting in left field for the first time in more than a month.
McCormick entered Sunday batting .227 since his return with three doubles, two RBI, one walk and four strikeouts. He said his body feels normal and that he is still working on recovering his timing at the plate. McCormick said he has been focusing on staying taller on the ball during his at-bats and loading his weight onto his back hip, which allows him to catch pitches out front and hit the ball with more backspin as opposed to topspin. Making those adjustments will continue to be critical as he hopes to receive more consistent at-bats.
