Astros' José Urquidy completes bullpen session at Dodger Stadium

LOS ANGELES — José Urquidy threw about 25 pitches in a bullpen session at Dodger Stadium on Saturday as the Astros righthander ramps up his work toward a return from shoulder discomfort.

Urquidy said his velocity was around 88-89 mph and he threw fastballs, changeups and sinkers. He said he expects to throw two more bullpens next week before progressing to facing hitters. Urquidy was placed on the injured list May 1. The Astros transferred him to the 60-day IL on Friday, but that would not change his recovery timeline as time already spent on IL counts toward the 60-day minimum.

Outfielder Michael Brantley, attempting to return from right shoulder surgery, hit in the cage Saturday and was on the field with Astros position players for pregame work. Yordan Alvarez, out with an oblique strain, walked through the clubhouse holding a bat and wearing batting gloves. Manager Dusty Baker, though, said Alvarez has not resumed swinging.
