Australian shares are poised inch higher at the open of trading this morning. ASX futures are up 9 points or 0.1 per cent near 7.15am AEDT. That’s after the index slipped 0.4 per cent in its opening session of the week yesterday. Overnight, The S&P 500 reset its record high, though it failed to hold its early advance and is on track to end the session largely flat. Tesla was more than 7 per cent higher late in New York.
In a post on X, Sevens Report’s Tom Essaye said: “While the positive events of the past two weeks and strong seasonals mean the path of least resistance in the market is higher, there are still risks that may lead to a drop in 2025 if those materialise.” TD Securities echoed those concerns. “Broadly speaking we still think President Trump’s policies mean higher inflation and an initially more hesitant Fed. Stocks in focus On Tuesday, Piedmont Lithium releases earnings.
