ASX drops again, down 0.8pct at midday

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 56.8 points, or 0.70 per cent, to 7,149.5 at noon on Tuesday, while the broader All Ordinaries had dropped 61.2 points, or 0.82 per cent, to 7,371.9. 7NEWS

The local share market has fallen ahead of the Reserve Bank of Australia's decision on interest rates.

The financial sector was 1.1 per cent lower, with all the big banks down. NAB fell the most, by 1.6 per cent to $30.60. In the heavyweight mining sector, BHP was up 0.1 per cent to $46.39 and Rio Tinto was up 0.5 per cent to $116.35, but Fortescue dropped 0.8 per cent to $21.24. Deputy chief executive Chris Bayliss said Judo remained confident of achieving its prospectus forecast for $6 billion in loans by June 30.
