Australian shares are poised to open modestly lower with worry about a global recession rising at an accelerated pace.

Australian shares are poised to edge lower to start the week after a mixed session in New York. Most strategists say global equities have yet to reach the end of the sell-off with recession clouds building.

A total of 42 new stocks will enter Goldman’s basket this quarter, nearly a complete turnover, Kostin said.
