California authorities announced on Sunday that at least 24 people have died as a result of the recent wildfires.
According to the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner's website, many of the decedents are John or Jane Does.

Slow progress was being made by firefighters in their uphill battle to contain the spreading flames, as six simultaneous fires presently requires more than 14,000 personnel deployments.
