At least five people were injured after a school bus overturned on the Dan Ryan Expressway Tuesday afternoon. According to the Chicago Fire Department, the victims were all transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Michael Howard was driving behind the bus and watched as it began to fishtail on the road.
“By the time I slowed down and pulled to the right, he had ran up on the curb and flipped over,” Howard told WTTW News. Howard said he and two other vehicles pulled over and attempted to help the passengers get out of the bus. He ran to the bus’ escape hatch to see if he could help anyone out, but the passengers were already making their way out through a rear door.
