By the summer of 2022, I had turned 34 and my nephew was born. I took the call that announced his arrival as I sat in the sun at my local lido, dripping wet from a swim, phone pressed to my ear, I thought: this doesn’t feel how I thought it would.
After that, everything expands towards a never-ending horizon. All you have is time – not broken up by academic years or summer holidays, just time to make sense of.
