MULTAN, Pakistán (AP) — El Talibán paquistaní atacó un puesto policial en la provincia de Punjab el domingo en la mañana, matando a un oficial e hiriendo a otros tres, y desatando un tiroteo en que murieron dos de los atacantes, informaron autoridades.
El ataque ocurrió en el distrito Mianwali de la provincia Punjab, y desató una intensa balacera cuando llegaron refuerzos a la asediada estación policial, informó Imran Nawaz, vocero de la policía antiterrorista.
Entre 10 y 12 combatientes atacaron la estación policial en el área Easa Khel de Mianwali, cerca de la provincia noroccidental Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, después de la medianoche, dijo Nawaz. La balacera duró horas y dos de los atacantes fueron abatidos y un tercero salió herido pero escapó con los otros, indicó Nawaz. Las autoridades han lanzado un operativo de búsqueda para dar con los agresores, añadió.
Entretanto, el saldo de muertos por el ataque con bomba del viernes en el distrito Mastung en la provincia de Baluchistan llegó a 60 debido a que algunos de los heridos sucumbieron en el hospital, dijo un vocero del hospital en Quetta, la capital de la provincia de Baluchistan. Waseem Baig dijo que algunas víctimas siguen con respiradores artificiales y que otras 25 personas están en condición estable, en el principal hospital de la ciudad y en el hospital militar. Más de 25 heridos fueron dados de alta.
