Sharks fans had their hearts in their mouths after Kalyn Ponga kicked the would-be game-winning field goal with three minutes left in regular time before referee Gerrard Sutton ruled a penalty for obstruction. That sent the match into golden point, with the Knights getting the first chance with the wind at their backs.
As well as being in the top four, the Sharks have star halves pairing Nicho Hynes and Braydon Trindall due to return from injury before the end of the regular season.It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Sharks on this day as they were behind by eight with seven minutes left on the clock.
