Attempted murder charges dropped for Brisbane man accused of setting fire to house with his partner and mother-in-law inside
Shortly after the fire, Mr Mickan handed himself in, and was then charged with several domestic violence offences including two counts of attempted murder and arson.
He was also charged with common assault, assault occasioning bodily harm, and wilful damage over the earlier incident. In a brief hearing in the Brisbane Magistrates court this morning, the prosecution offered no evidence on the more serious charges and instead offered two replacement counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.Mr Mickan appeared in court via videolink and was asked by a magistrate if he would like to say anything in answer to the list of charges.Mr Mickan will now face a sentencing hearing in the District Court at a later date.
