Queensland Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman confirmed she would appeal the sentence handed to a drug and alcohol-fuelled teenage driver who ran over an expectant couple, killing them and their unborn child while he was on bail for other offences.

Matt Field, 37, and his pregnant partner Katherine Leadbetter, 31, were walking their dogs at Alexandra Hills, southeast of Brisbane, when they were fatally struck by the drug and alcohol fuelled-teenager who was behind the wheel of a stolen Toyota Landcruiser.

Picture: Suppliedamong family and members of the Queensland community, who described it as"manifestly inadequate" and called for the sentence to be reviewed and appealed. "Again there is not much more I can say as the matter is now before the court of appeal but I again want to acknowledge what the family and the community have been through.

The offender was on bail for other offences when the incident occurred and had appeared before the Children's Court seven times on 107 charges.
