That gave Linnartz a sizeable lead over Michael French, a U.S. Army veteran who now works as an intelligence analyst. French received 26.4 percent of the early votes. The bond proposition vote comes as New Braunfels is trying to upgrade its infrastructure to deal with rapid growth. The city's population increased from 57,740 in 2010 to 98,857 in 2022, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
