Consider this family business. As the daughter of established actors Harold and Brittany Perrineau, acting was in Aurora’s bloodline, but even though she’s only 25, she went through three different careers to arrive at her 2019 profession.
So despite being very shy, Aurora wanted to act because it felt like the most logical career given her immediate circle. But as she got older, she itched to wander down a different path. “Everyone I knew was doing [acting], and then I didn't want to,” she says. “I wanted to be a horseback rider and I did that for 14 years.” Horseback riding eventually segued into a modeling stint that phased her equestrian life out. “They told me that my legs were too muscular to keep riding horses.
“The idea that there was a woman of color in the power position, especially around a bunch of guys, I thought that that was very interesting and cool,” she says of her initial attraction to the role. “She was on an equal playing field as opposed to a lot of scripts you read.
