Before passing away, the 107-year-old revealed she still managed to get around without the aid of a walker through her later years. Harling was born in Kerang, Victoria in 1918 and grew up in a very different Australia to the society that we enjoy today.Edna Harling's sister died from the Spanish flu. As a child, she lost her older sister to Spanish flu at the age of six.Both Harling's husband and brother served in World War II.
Her husband, Chris Harling, worked on the radar system that was set up in Darwin after the bombings of 1941.Edna Harling was also a local legend in the sport of bowls. She was a member of the Victorian state team for 22 years and won numerous national and state titles.She was a remarkable Australian and inspired plenty.
