The Australian dollar has jumped to its highest value in more than four months, as optimism about the COVID-19 economic recovery builds up.A weaker US greenback helped boost the local currency to levels not seen since late January, as did strong demand for Australia's key export, iron ore, which is still trading above $US100 per tonne.

It follows a steady day on Wall Street as investors focused on the continuing reopening of state economies across the United States.The S&P 500 and Nasdaq rose by 0.4 and 0.7 per cent respectively.
