Kermond, a show jumper who was meant to be making his Olympic debut,Equestrian Australia confirmed the news in a statement. The test that came back positive was taken nearly a month ago.
"Cocaine is prohibited in-competition by the World Anti-Doping Agency and the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy 2021. The Australian Olympic Committee also issued a statement, reading: "The Australian Olympic Committee has been made aware of the provisional suspension of equestrian athlete Jamie Kermond after being informed by Sport Integrity Australia as an interested party.Jamie Kermond of Australia in 2015
He was a controversial selection for the OIympics, with suggestions that he was favoured due to his sponsorship ties with a national selector, Stephen Lamb.
