The Aussie tennis world is in mourning as former world no. 1 and 19-time Grand Slam winner Neale Fraser has died aged 91.
Born on October 2, 1933, Fraser would dominate on the court and go on to secure the top position in men's tennis the same year he snagged the 1959 US Open.
He helped guide Australia four consecutive times in the Davis Cup and held the captaincy for a record-setting 24 years between 1970 and 1993. "As a cricket fan he watched how leg-spin bowlers turned the ball in different directions by cocking their wrists and he adapted this 'googly' approach to his serve," Tennis Australia said.December 3, 2024"He just knew how to make you feel important and play your best."
