Australia Post is set to introduce new postage charges from September 5, in an attempt to ensure “sustainable postal service” for all. 9News

The peak mail service said the changes, which will be introduced on September 5, will ensure a "sustainable postal service" can be provided to all Australians.

"We regularly review our products and services across a range of factors, including the changing needs of our customers and the increasing cost of delivery," an Australia Post spokesperson told 9news.com.au.The price of domestic parcels will increase by 4.5 per cent, with smaller parcels up to 500g set to rise to $9.70, up from $9.30.

Heavier packages, weighing between 500g and 1kg, will cost $13.25 from $12.70 when shipped domestically.
