Veterans and first-timers have walked the red carpet for the 95ths Oscar Nominees Luncheon in Beverly Hills — and the Academy boss has labelled its response the now infamous 2022 slap 'inadequate'.

The event is also a chance for actors and directors to network.

Spotted talking were Baz Luhrmann and Tom Cruise, as well as Cate Blanchett and Italian film director Alice Rohrwacher. They're also given a reminder of the event's rules, with Ms Yang telling the crowd: "[When] you're asked to take the stage, you would do a great service to all awardees and the millions of people watching to abide by [one rule].

"It's the 45-second rule. As in, you win the coveted gold statue, your acceptance speech must be 45 seconds, tops." Everything Everywhere All At Once directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert crashed an interview with Aftersun's Paul Mescal, pitching a potential movie role."We've had a couple martial artists talk about doing a yoga action movie," Kwan said.Nominees are finally called up one by one to the stage for the "class photo".
