Australia reached a strong 100 in their first innings against India on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja provided the bulk of the runs, with Khawaja looking to settle after a shaky start. Akash Deep bowled economically for India, restricting the flow of runs.

Akash Deep has simply switched ends, replacing Ravindra Jadeja.A bit too straight with the first delivery, as Marnus works it off his pads for a couple of runs through midwicket.

Just as I type that, Deep goes full and is driven through the off side by Khawaja for three. A diving stop from Siraj at mid-off prevents a boundary.By Chris De SilvaRohit Sharma goes back to his strike weapon, who was uncharacteristically dismantled in the morning by Konstas. His five overs have gone for just nine runs, which has allowed India to wrestle back some of the momentum after the Konstas madness from earlier.By Chris De SilvaLabuschagne defends one into the covers where Kohli is situated, and Kohli fields and then almost strikes Marnus with a wild throw into the keeper. An excellent over from the veteran spinner. India will want to string a few wickets together here.

He's looked more assured today, but is still a little iffy outside that off stump from around the wicket. A maiden! Not a common occurrence this morning, but well bowled from Akash, not getting carried away in the drama.Righto, this will be interesting. He'll have to wait a bit, because Khawaja is the man on strike to start the over.Jadeja again a little shorter as Khawaja punches off the back foot for a single into the off side to bring Konstas on strike.40m agoBy Chris De SilvaDeep from around the wicket beats Khawaja with a ball that slightly leaves him after pitching.

Konstas going at the Indians has allowed the veteran to do what he does best - accumulate in the background.By Chris De SilvaSiraj gets onto his pads and Konstas flicks it somewhat unconvincingly through the leg side for a couple and salutes all corners of the MCG.WHACK! Siraj goes shorter and Konstas walks down the pitch and hoicks it over midwicket. It's another one that's touch and go with the boundary rope.
