Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the recent reform to allow New Zealanders an easier pathway to Australian citizenship is a “sensible change”.
“It’s moving that pathway so that it’s equivalent to what Australians receive in New Zealand, it’s a sensible change that we announced on the weekend,” Mr Albanese said during a media conference on Thursday.
“These changes, again, aimed at more permanency – giving people that security will mean that they are able to make a greater contribution to the Australian community.”
