Dr Fiona Mueller from the Centre for Independent Studies has dubbed Australian student’s falling grades as a “failure” to ensure children are equipped for life. TheBoltReport

Dr Fiona Mueller from the Centre for Independent Studies has dubbed Australian student’s falling grades as a “failure” to ensure children are equipped for life. “What we are seeing is the failure to ensure that all of our students across the country are able to leave school with confidence and [to be] competent in the various areas we have deemed to be critical for life,” Dr Mueller told Sky News. “The most worrying thing really is the effect on our children.

” Dr Mueller’s comments come after the release of the Programme for International Student Assessment results, which shows Australian students are falling behind other developed countries in reading, maths and science. Australian students are falling years behind the rest of the world in numeracy and literacy, according to the 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment report. Australian students are now three years behind Chinese students of the same age in mathematics.
