Shadow Defence Minister Andrew Hastie says the Pacific region is “very vulnerable” and he plans to work constructively with the government to deliver bipartisan defence solutions.

He said Australia needs to be prepared for conflict in the region and demonstrate there is a “cost for military adventurism”.

“We will oppose anyone who gets in the way of making sure we have a strong ADF, strong supply chains and the energy requirements that we need to build our defensive capability,” Mr Hastie told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
