Griffith, 46, was sentenced to life imprisonment in November 2023 for hundreds of sex offences against nearly 70 girls while employed in Queensland's childcare industry. Luke Twyford, from the Queensland Family and Child Commission, has been appointed to lead the investigation. Twyford's mandate encompasses a thorough examination of the Blue Card system, which vets individuals working with children, and an assessment of broader systemic failings that contributed to Griffith's ability to exploit and abuse vulnerable children.The review will meticulously reconstruct a timeline of Griffith's offenses, analyze existing laws and policies to determine if they could have facilitated earlier identification of his criminal activity, and explore the effectiveness of the Blue Card system during the relevant period.
