Anwar Ibrahim is the current Prime Minister of Malaysia.

'New search needed now': Australia and Malaysia knew all along that MH370's disappearance was a case of murder-suicide - all that's needed now is to confirm it

Believed to have been in court that day was Zaharie Shah, a senior Malaysia Airlines pilot and strong supporter of Mr Ibrahim - his distant relative - who would a day later captain the MH370 passenger jet that vanished from radar screens en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Interestingly Captain Zaharie Shah had the previous month planned a flight on his Boeing 777 home simulator from Kuala Lumpur on the regular Bejing route but reversed course at the Malaysian/Vietnamese Flight Information Region boundary, to fly back across northern Malaysia, fly up the Straits of Malacca and once out of military radar range beyond North West Sumatra turn south and fly deep into the southern Indian Ocean where there are no airfields.

The Inmarsat satellite then subsequently hourly tracked the B777 to the last"handshake" at latitude 38 degrees South in the southern Indian Ocean.
