NSW Health has confirmed a ninth case of the Omicron coronavirus variant. Health authorities say the case is a student at Regents Park Christian School in western Sydney. Follow our live national news coverage:
The ACT has recorded four new cases of COVID-19.The national capital continues to lead the nation in vaccination rates, with 97.9 per cent of Canberrans aged 12 and up fully vaccinated against the virus.ByIt comes after the state reported 337 new infections and zero deaths earlier this morning.
In a statement, NSW Health said there was a concern the “virus may have been acquired in the community as the case has no overseas travel history or links to people with overseas travel history”. Anyone who was on either flight is considered a close contact of a COVID-19 case and must get a PCR test and self-isolate while waiting for further health advice.
He will be joined by NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard and state MP Wendy Tuckerman to open a new clinical research building at the Goulbourn Hospital.
