The NSW government has backed down from a years-long industrial dispute with unions. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Thursday.
Victorian households will be able to claim a bonus payment of $250 if they shop around for a better energy deal from tomorrow under an expanded state government program to reduce cost of living pressures.
D’Ambrosio acknowledged Victorians were feeling the pinch as a result of rising power bills but added that households across the state had fared better than those in other parts of the nation as a result of the government’s investment in alternative power sources. “Just imagine if we had spent all of our time in office being like the now-departed federal government talking about things rather than doing them. Having 20 different energy plans instead of one coherent practical plan of action with a real sense of urgency we’ve known from the day we were sworn in,” he said.
Earlier this month, Premier Dominic Perrottet announced the public sector wage cap would be lifted from 2.5 per to 3 per cent.Catholic employers are not bound by the cap but have followed the public sector’s lead on teacher wages.Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has warned China to heed the lessons of the Ukraine conflict and distance itself from Russia.
