NSW has reported 1480 new local coronavirus cases and nine deaths, as suburbs in inner Sydney are encouraged to come forward for vaccination amid rising case numbers.
Three-quarters of the state have now received a first dose of vaccine and 42 per cent are fully vaccinated. Dr Gale said seven of the people who died were not vaccinated. One had received one dose and one had received two doses. The Beenleigh cluster, sparked after a Logan truck driver passed the virus to a 4-year-old girl and her mother, remains at three people.As a result, Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said restrictions on visitors to hospitals, aged care and disability facilities in the Logan area would lift immediately.
Assistant Commissioner Russell Barrett of the southern metro region said police believe between 20 and 30 people were in attendance at the Ripponlea synagogue, far less than the 100 initially reported.Police patrolling the streets of Ripponlea, in Melbourne’s south east.Police would remain onsite for the remainder of Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, and Mr Barrett said most people had observed the celebration respectfully.
