Australians over the age of 50 will now be eligible for a fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, Federal Health Minister Mark Butler said.
The interval between doses of vaccine or an infection and the next dose will also be narrowed from four months to three months. The changes will come into place from Monday. Omicron subvariants BA.4 and 5 are “very good” at evading people’s immunity and those who had COVID-19 already were at risk of re-infection, he said.
