Former prime minister Kevin Rudd has elaborated on his attempts to accelerate the Pfizer vaccine rollout reported by the ABC’slast night, and says federal Health Minister Greg Hunt would resign over the rollout “if he had any self respect”.
Mr Rudd said he was “not at all” embarrassed by the response from Pfizer indicating his efforts had no impact on speeding up the rollout, or from Mr Hunt, who said he “had a little chuckle” when he saw the story.“I was simply doing my small bit, when asked to by Australian business. Did it materially help at the end of the day? I’m in no position to judge, but I thought it was the right and positive, constructive thing to do.
Two have been classified as locally acquired cases and one has been classified as acquired interstate. We’ll seek to get more information on those classifications at today’s coronavirus update. Meanwhile, Mr Andrews said lockdowns shouldn’t be necessary by the end of the year if the Commonwealth’s promised vaccinations are delivered and administered.He added that he has sent a series of text messages to NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian to offer support and advice in handling the city’s current outbreak.Anthony Galloway
