Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young has spoken about the Optus outage, as the company’s chief executive is set to this week. Optus boss Kelly Bayer Rosmarin will be grilled by senators as the company faces the threat of substantial fines over customers’ inability to call triple zero during last week’s network outage.
“I think this is an important process … because so many Australians were impacted by the outage, and for far too long, for hours they didn’t even here from the CEO of Optus about what was going on,” Hanson-Young told Nine’s Today this morning. She said people were annoyed and frustrated, and many also lost money because of the outage. “We need to be also considering what type of compensation people deserve,” the Greens MP said.
