Australia’s childhood asthma hotspots revealed in new study

The nation's childhood asthma hotspots are found mainly in regional and rural communities and with higher proportions of Indigenous Australians, according to a new UNSW Sydney-led study.

Australia's childhood asthma hotspots revealed in new study, with regional areas and a part of northern Tasmania at the highest risk

The study, published in Global Health Research and Policy, was conducted by UNSW in collaboration with asthma experts from across the country, including the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. The Action-Upper Burnie region on Tasmania’s north coast was found to have the highest proportion of children with asthma in identified hotspots.
