Anthony Albanese has revealed Australia's position on deporting New Zealand criminals following requests from Jacinda Ardern for a 'common sense' approach.
On Friday, Ms Ardern said she happy with Mr Albanese's"common sense" approach that will take into account the amount of time a New Zealand citizen has spent in Australia."We acknowledge Australia will continue to deport, as New Zealand currently does have provision and does deport those who don't have a long-term connection to New Zealand.
Shadow home affairs minister Karen Andrews told Sky News Australia's Peter Stefanovic on Thursday any changes which keep foreign criminals in Australia"would be a worrying sign" for the nation. "And I would be very concerned if Labor did anything to water down the strong position that the Coalition took in government."
