The national coronavirus death toll has risen to 80 as another evacuation flight prepares to bring about 150 Australians home from South America.

A 90-year-old man has become the tenth person to die from coronavirus in Tasmania, brining the national death toll to 80.

"On behalf of the Tasmanian government I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to family, friends and loved ones," Premier Peter Gutwein said in a statement on Saturday. About 1,200 healthcare staff from Burnie's North West Regional Hospital and neighbouring North West Private Hospital are due to come out of a two-week quarantine on Sunday.Clovelly, Coogee and Maroubra beaches are only open between 6am and 9am over the ANZAC weekend after beachgoers ignored coronavirus social distancing measures.

The Qantas flight, announced last week, departs Buenos Aires at 2pm local time on Saturday and is due to land in Melbourne at 7.30pm on Sunday.Australia’s ambassador to Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay Brett Hackett urged people on the flight to be punctual.“If you are late, your entire group will be delayed,” he said in a video message posted to social media on Saturday morning.
