Squadron Energy CEO Eva Hanly says Australia’s gas pipeline infrastructure is “extremely congested,” particularly in some areas.

A new energy terminal in Port Kembla is being proposed as a solution to meet Australia’s predicted energy shortfalls by eliminating the cost of transporting gas through already established pipelines between states.

“You need to find another way to get the gas from Queensland to New South Wales and that is where our terminal comes in,” Ms Hanly told Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood. “Because we can put the gas on the ship in Queensland and very quickly ship it down into Port Kembla and inject it straight into the east coast gas network.”
